One can understand the philosophy, devotion, and Indian spirituality through pristine religions such as Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism and Sikhism. The different temples that are found throughout the country reflect those that help the body relate to the mind.

In Indian temples, the symbolism of either the structure or jewelry, is of great importance. Hence, the main temples are places of pilgrimage rather than forming a religious center which also includes the temple, a place for the priest and even for the pilgrims.

India is called the land of temples, as thousands of churches mark the landscape. They reflect and focus the art brilliantly showing the extraordinary achievements in the fields of art and architecture over a period of two thousand years. Regional variations lend you an exquisite character to the architecture of the temples. India's diversity is reflected in the carved works and styles.

The basic structure of an Indian temple is a square room with four cardinal directions, with a platform that has the image of the deity in the center, a full roof and the door to the east side.

Opposite the door is a platform covered by a roof supported by columns, where worshipers gather before and after coming to God. At the time of opening of the temple, the priests established a shrine in the center of the temple and placed the image of God during ceremonies.

The Indian temple architecture shows the rich and splendid culture of the country. They sample carved sculptures and works extremely impressive that bear witness to the genius and creativity of artisans, sculptors and artists from India. Some temples are known throughout the world are ISKCON temple, Lotus temple, and Kalkaji Mandir in Delhi, Naina Devi, Baijnath temple, temples in Himachal Pradesh, Amarnath temple, Vaishno Devi, and Shankaracharya temple in the state of Jammu and Kashmir , and Char Dham in Uttar Pradesh. Most temples in southern India are Dravidian style of architecture in which a tower worshiped inside the church.

Individuals or small groups of devotees come to to see the god, praying, and reciting hymns. As the deity is in every part of the church, anything that touches the idol or even enter the sacred room is filled with grace and when they are returned to those who offer to God, gives the blessing of the divine to the human.
