On all tours there is a special time and anecdotal siemrpe recalled, and that is like that "feat" which later account, even if you have more ridiculous than anything else. But it was precisely this absurdity that made us all streams for a while. It was the day we were going to go to Amber Fort riding on elephants.
We had all risen eager to make this trip. I, particularly, to a little afraid of me over that thing so big, and in that state so I got to the point of departure. All together we began to wait ... and wait ... and wait. And we saw the increasingly nervous guide from one place to another, along with the owner of the elephants. Until after a while we decided to ask what happened. Imagine the surprise when the phone goes and says, “We have lost an elephant.”
We all looked at and held our laughter without knowing how it was that on the streets of Jaipur could lose such a large animal. Well, do not ask me how, but the fact is that it finally appears, and I assure you that within a magic lamp, no.
Amber is 11 kms on the outskirts of Jaipur. The way to get there we did on our bus as usual, but this time by a pretty nice way, Abrol and surrounded by a lake in its center stands a beautiful palace.
The bus left us right at the beginning of a steep hill that is the elephant up to get to the Amber Fort , in a narrow little road which only has room for elephant climbing and falling, each in its track. However, before getting on the elephant, we must again suffer the harassment of street vendors and happy bargain.
By the way, you have another option to get to Amber Fort, and is renting a rickshaw, you know, these species as a bicycle cart which takes you a guy riding on the back ... If you do so, you must know that you should not pay more than 80 rupees, but keep in mind that probably out, I asked twice as for the excursion to Amber Fort with elephant coach, about 7 ½ hours, costs, if the contrabass on your own, about 60 euros.
I had never been on an elephant, but should be equipped with seat belts, parachutes and other similar things, because only with the height they have, the vertigo that gives, and the wiggle that lead, the muscles are petrified of the effort to do seat to avoid falling behind leading. Of course, the ascent to Amber Fort Elephant riding assure you a good time to laugh, because seeing the faces of tourists who cross our elephant is priceless.
The first impression (and strange) is to meet around an oriental palace, but ... invaded by monkeys. Yes, they seem not to fear the tourists, because not flinch. There they remain impassive, staring and motionless, and counting by tens tri-fold, without exaggeration. It is also curious that entry courtyard, where they are "parked" so many elephants to come out waiting for tourists, as if taxis are treated.
The entrance is really beautiful, with those huge doors on the upper arch which dominates the elephant god Ganesh. From that facade, with many bas-reliefs and figures, include the windows carved from watching women, hidden, and its construction in red sandstone and white marble.
The fortified palace was built in 1592 by Maharaja Man Singh. Design Amber Fort is strongly influenced by the Moghul style, and that the family of Man Singh had much to do with the Moghul, since his grandfather was Bihar Mal, Moghul king, who married his daughter to Akbar's court and sent to Man Singh.
This Amber Fort was formerly a palace that was true in the original Amber Fort (which is now known as Fort Jaigarh). Today, that original fort is connected to the Palace we visited by passageways and built on a hill on a higher plane, as you see in the picture above.
The palace is really beautiful, but mostly, I have been a couple of pictures as the best memory of that visit: first the precious windows, Worked as only in the East know how. The views from them are beautiful yet Jaipur feet, and Lake Maotha other. On the other hand, is the Hall of MirrorsThat looks great, and they say, that the royal family when he lived in the palace, ocn enough that a single candle used to light up all the great games, thanks to the placement that the different mirrors and the reflection they produce.
