The Golconda Fort is located 11 kilometers Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. It was built in 1143 on a granite hill 120 meters high by the Kakatiya kings. It is considered one of the most impressive fortresses in India, which is not to say the least, as you can imagine.
Over time, the strength came to be in the hands of the Bahmani dynasty and later accounted for the turn of the reign of Qutb Shahi, who are responsible for most of the beauty and splendor that holds Golconda.
To reach the gates of the fort, it is necessary to follow the path rising on the hill, which was once surrounded by traditional shops selling carpets, precious stones, diamonds and pearls. Today, of course, nothing remains of those times, but the majesty of Golconda remains intact.
The entrance is a huge Iron Gate known as BalahisarWith sharp peaks, of course, protecting its inhabitants from enemy invasions immediately afterwards, are the Nagina Gardens and the three huge water tanks supplying the fort.
The Durbar hall is undoubtedly the main attraction of the fort. Located on the top of the hill and to reach it you have to climb a ladder of a thousand steps. However, once there anything can seem too much effort. The surrounding views are simply sublime, and well worth any promotion.
Another important focus is outside the walls of the fort, half a mile north of the site. These are tombs of the Qutb Shahi kings easily identifiable by the white domes that crown structures. Nearby, there are also the palaces belonging to the sisters and Premamathi Taramathi, the king's favorite.
