In India, death has always been seen as part of life, but in recent times has also been included in the ritual of food. The New Lucky Restaurant has become widely known not only for its excellent cuisine, but by the tombstones among the tables.

The New Lucky Restaurant, located in Ahmedabad, is a place where older men browse between newspapers and discuss politics, next to young couples celebrating their love in the dim light and romantic candlelight. The surprising thing is that young and old seem to have used or overlooked one detail: the graves and tombstones to decorate the place.

Kutti Krishnan Nair, Indian by birth, has helped manage this establishment for nearly 40 years. Note that the restaurant was built on an ancient Muslim cemetery, although no one knows and who owns the tombs, on which customers eat, who far from uncomfortable, it seems like the macabre idea. Nair agrees with many, when she says her business is good, mostly thanks to the tablets it contains.

The gravestones have been painted all green and the head of establishment, decorates every day, with a dried flower on each. The tombstones are scattered arbitrarily throughout the premises. It is therefore necessary that the waiters know the area like the palms of their hands, and develop the best routes to serve their customers without tripping over the small monuments. In the four decades that has been running the restaurant, and all have become accustomed, and can not find anything fancy in it.

The restaurant dates back to 1950, before the terrible traffic in India, could disrupt the peace and silence of those who rest in peace. The original owner of the premises was KH Mohammed, who started his business as a small tea shop on the outskirts of the cemetery. Later he was joined by Nair, who later became his partner. Since the business was successful, it began to expand, taking part of the cemetery in their growth. Although Mohammed died in 1996, the business is still operating and still has great reception.

Definitely a place where most of us seem strange to sit down to eat, but the experience can be interesting. Now you know one of the world's strangest restaurants..
