The Agra Red Fort is another stop on the city, partly inescapable history Taj MahalBecause it was where Shah Jahan was detained after the death of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. From its windows, the King spent his last years watching the resting place of his wife across the river Yamuna.
Red Fort keep two very nice memories: the entry on him and his outside view, spectacular, and, of course, the views can be admired from the windows. As legend has it, actually from all its windows you can see the silhouette of the Taj Mahal Indian cut the sky.
Red Fort, Known there as laal quilaa, Was built between 1566 and 1573, was King Akbar, who became their citadel. Three generations of kings were passing inside its walls of Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan. The fort is made of red sandstone (hence its name) and its walls measure 2.5 kms. long and 20 meters high, finished with battlements.
The rear of the fort is protected by the river, while the other rises in an arch vessels which are protected by a moat of 9 meters. The entrance, which I commented that it is spectacular, it is through Amar Singh Gate, On the south side, an impressive archway that leads to three successive arcs, sandwiched between the high walls and a high cost. Once inside the palace you can visit the Jahangiri Mahal, 1570, although many of its buildings from the time of Akbar were rebuilt by Shah Jahan, to instill in them the marble palace, which was built between 1627 and 1648, the beginning of his reign.

In the center of the palace is Garden Grapes two walks across the marble garden divided into four portions are exactly alike. To one side is Private Palace, A white marble palace also three pavilions and a pond in the middle. In one corner of the garden is also Crystal Palace whose walls are covered with mirrors. From the octagonal tower can get the best views and photographs of the white mausoleum of Mumtaz Mahal and also from Private Hearing Roomwhich is a little further, and is distinguished by its open arches and terrace, also with a nice arch.
